Analyse games

Hi, I am analysing some games from the book 'Chess Fundamentals' by Capablance. There are a number of moves that I do not understand. Is anyone willing to help me analyse? If someone responds with a yes, I will start posting the moves and we can then analyse together.

Thanks!

OK place a couple of them.

Since you are reading a Capablanca´s book, most probably the moves are inot annotated in the algebraic form.

Thanks!

Thank you lancelot. I will post the moves in algebraic form, in a couple of days.

I have the revised edition of the book, which has been revised by Nick DeFirmian. It is in algebraic notation.

Regards.

Jacques Mieses vs. Jose Raul Capablanca, Berlin 1913 - my queries

Here are my queries...

1. Why can't white play 14.f3?
2. Why can't white play 14.Bd4?
3. Why can't white play 36.Rd5?
4. Why can't white play 15.fe3?
5. Why can't white play 15.Qe3?
6. Why can't white play 15.Nh7?
7. Why can't white play 15.Bh7?

Thanks in advance for trying to solve them.

Jacques Mieses vs. Jose Raul Capablanca, Berlin 1913 - my queries

Capablanca writes that he played 10…Qf6 instead of 10…d6 because the latter allows 11.Bd3 and the play might continue 11…Re8 12.Nh3 and soon white would be able launch a strong king side attack. But, why black cannot simply respond 11…Nd4 to 11.Bd3?

14..f3??

Dear chess warrior.....
Im no chess expert, but That is why I think white didnt play 14.f3......:14.f3?? is a blunder because of Rxe3 which loses a piece and gives further threats like Rxd3 with Ne2+, forking the King and Queen, giving huge material gains.....

The rest of the moves do not have any tactical mistake.....
I believe it was some stratergy which forced Mieses not to play them.......

As for you note on day 25

Well. . .I am way behind being a chess commentator. . . miles away. . .

But as most people do,  I sometimes speak “bull shit”.

So this is my reasoning:
14. f3  The pawn attacks two pieces while it is attacked  by three pieces. No business.  Besides, after PxR the pawn will be alone in the center of the board.

15. f3
15 Qe3 Obviously to avoid BxQ

•36 ?

15 Nh7 and Bh7  Any way the king can escape losing only one pawn and white will have two important pieces, N and B, out of the battle field (the center of the board).

Hope  somebody else will place his comments, for it is a nice game and your questions are quite interesting.
