woodpusher,
Timeouts in an internet chess environment are always going to require a compromise. At present Chess On The Web does not force players to take timeouts. When the tournaments are up and running this will change. A tournament game will be automatically timed out to prevent the tournament stagnating. Sadly there are people who get bored and do not return to the site.
The repetition and 50 move rule will be incorporated into the site in future. I intend addressing this once the tournaments are complete.

hi stoney x i think it would be a good idea to have teams and team captains in the near future. and you team will be rated as a whole. regards Derek.

hotdog,
That functionality won't be availalbe any time soon. There's loads of other enhancements to do first.

Hi there stoney i would like to put across a idea about having a little box at the side of players games so you write what your next move is going to be you know incase you go away and when you come back you've forgot and you make a stupid move. i have been on the back foot of this myself and i am sure others have to. Regards Derek.

hotdog,
Another good suggestion, but you'll be glad to hear that it is already on the list of things to do.

sorting games
how about a sorting games into wins loses and draws. so instead of them all being together sort them in to your option. so you can see who and when you have won lost or drawn games.
Regards.

teams
how about teams and team ratings. with captains, tournaments etc

I'm sure you have asked this before.....
There's lots of other development that needs to occur before I'll even start looking at the concept of teams. It is in the long term goals for the site.

how about a selection of flags when you register so players no what nationality they are. and in the future maybe even a cam so you can put a picture of you on your profile.
Regards Derek

Rating new game
Any chance you can add the feature where when you put a new game up you can put the rating in which you want your oponent to be around. I have deleted so many games from low rated players and it would save the bother.
Thanks

A range of acceptable ratings would be a good thing on games offered, as well as a preference on challenges in the player's profile, so that inappropriate challenges would be rejected automatically.
A Vacation flag is still a priority for me, although I've found more and more resources when away from home to log on. Some remote areas are lacking WiFi spots, so the vacation flag is a good feature.
Also bracketing of tournaments seems a good idea, perhaps tournaments open only to previous tournament winners as a novelty, or a once a year site championship event for the top X number of rated players.
Have you thought about posting cumulative tournament scores perhaps automatically added to a player's profile?

rating new game
Thanks for your response woodpusher. i think this would be good and rather easy to add in as its not like the tournaments or anything. vacation flag would be nice idea but i would never play anyone if there not going to play in the time set. Its pointless although its correspondence you should still have a game and not a move every 6 months. regards
