am curious when and why en passant was added??I've been told that the reason for it was that there were too many sexually draws, cause players were able to avoid some pawn breaks, until modern rules were codified in the 15th.century!!
En passant was created to close a loophole that resulted when the "two-square first move" was given to pawns in the 14th century. It prevents a player from using a two-square first move to evade capture from an enemy pawn on an adjacent file.
