Yes, in the end winners are grinners. It wasn't a great game; hardly any class moves. Without taking anything away from SA, who, I feel, marginally deserved to win, the Poms made the only great break and I don't see why they weren't awarded a try, must have been the Australian video ref. Both teams played amazingly energetically, especially considering the age of the English players. What we're seeing more often is the winning team carried away with euphoria and forgetting to congratulate their losing opponents. It was gratifying to see the two gentlemen of the teams Wilkinson and Montgomery mixing and shaking hands with the opposing side while the bulk of the SA team and officials were so busy with their back slapping. See you in 4 years time.
My initial thoughts at the time was that it was a try, but some of the English newpapers had photo's in them showing Cueto's foot was in touch. Based on this *evidence* I think that if the try had been awarded it would have been far more controversial than what has happened. I think the correct disicion was made in the end and well done to Dickinson.
More importantly.... Well done the Boks!!!!! I remember the emotions of 12 years ago, and if I hadn't been the only bok supportor in a pub full of poms I would have been cheering a lot louder.
